Sub Committees

The following are the details of the committees of the Shree Udyan Ganesh Mandir Seva Samiti. These committees carry out various activities under the leadership of their respective heads, under supervision and control of the board of trustees

1. Religious Committee
This committee organizes the festival of Maghi Ganesh Utsav, which is to celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesh. This falls in the month of Magh, which is during the period of Shukla Chaturthi (Vinayaki). The celebration is a 5 day programme that includes bhajans, kirtans, mantra recitations and a palkhi yatra on the last day. Daily activities include daily Abhishek, shodshopchar puja, satyanarayan and satyavinayak pujas.

2. Cultural Committee
During the Maghi Festival, this committee organizes music programs and talent competitions twice a year. Also, this committee organizes the Vasant Utsav.

3. Sports Committee
This committee arranges kabaddi competitions for the students of schools that fall in the areas of Mahim-16, Dadar-28, Prabhadevi-28 and Worli-30, with separate competitions for boys and girls. The winner of the competitions is felicitated with Rs.5000/- cash prize and a silver trophy. The 1st runner up gets Rs.3000/- plus trophy and 2nd runner up gets Rs.2000/- cash plus trophy. Certificates and tshirts are given to the winners as well as each participant.

4. Health Committee
This committee arranges medical camps in tribal and rural areas of Wada, Badlapur and other such areas which falls in tribal and rural categories in Maharashtra. Medical camps are also arranged in the temple premises for detection of cancer in ladies (breast cancer), diabetes, bone calcium deficiency and heart disorders.

5. Mandir Re-Construction & Maintenance Committee
This committee looks after the construction and maintenance activities of the temple building and surrounding premises. This committee has undertaken the renovation of the temple building and has been completed on 30th August 2012 with the support of Lord Ganesha devotees.

6. Education Committee
This committee organizes programs to felicitate the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks in schools falling fall in the areas of Mahim-16, Dadar-28, Prabhadevi-28 and Worli-30 and tribal schools in Thane district. The prize is of cash Rs.350/- and certificate which totals to about 175 students as of today. The student who achieves 1st rank from students of all schools together, gets a special gift in the form of a Titan Wristwatch. In addition to this, special prizes are also given from the interest amount of the specific prize funds donated in memory of specified persons. These special prizes are distributed amongst the 1st & 2nd ranks from schools of Mahanagar Palika, night schools as well as handicap schools.

7. Religious Tours Committee
This committee arranges religious tours especially for senior citizens twice a year. These tours are provided on cost to cost basis to the senior citizens
